AI Note Taker for WhatsApp: A Private Notetaker That Catches What Matters
Sending messages is easy. Remembering what you agreed to across hundreds of chats is hard. Someone sent you a door code three weeks ago. Someone said they'd follow up on Friday. Your mum mentioned a vacation idea in a voice note you played once and never looked at again. That's the gap a WhatsApp AI notetaker is meant to close — not another chatbot to open, but a quiet second memory that keeps the things you'd otherwise lose. Here's what one actually does with your WhatsApp chats, and how Aivi handles it.

What is an AI note taker for WhatsApp, and what does it actually do?
- A WhatsApp AI notetaker is a separate app on your phone that works on top of your chats and keeps two kinds of memory: notes about you (ideas, addresses, codes, sizes, important moments) and notes about the people you talk to (what they said they'd do, where you left things).
- WhatsApp itself doesn't take notes about your chats. Meta AI — built into WhatsApp since 2025 — can draft a reply for you and summarise unread messages, but it doesn't remember things about people or ideas you'd like to come back to.
- Notes land on a dedicated screen you can read, edit, delete or turn off. On the way to drafting a reply, Aivi quietly checks what she already knows about that contact.
- You never type a password or a code into a notetaker app. For WhatsApp, linking goes through its own Linked Devices feature — you confirm it yourself on your phone.
- Aivi — one WhatsApp AI notetaker on iPhone and Android. Free to download; subscription for ongoing use.
Does WhatsApp itself keep notes about your chats?
No. WhatsApp's own AI, Meta AI, can draft a reply for you and give you a short summary of unread messages — Meta rolled these two tools out in 2025 — but it doesn't keep notes about the people you talk to, and it doesn't remember things you'd like to come back to.
Message Summaries landed in mid-2025 for English-speaking users in the US: when a chat has a stack of unread messages, you tap a banner and Meta AI writes a short bullet list of what you missed. Writing Help came in the same wave — tap your draft, pick a tone, and Meta AI rewrites it before you send.
Both are handy, and both are about this moment: the thread you're opening right now, the message you're about to send. Neither one files anything away. Close the chat and the summary is gone; send the message and the draft is gone.
That's a different job from what a note taker does. For a closer look at the summaries side — one long chat, one quick TL;DR — see AI Summaries for WhatsApp Chats. This article is about the memory side: what sticks around.
What an AI note taker does with your WhatsApp conversations
An AI note taker for WhatsApp reads along as you go through your chats and pulls out two kinds of memory, plus one helper for voice. Three roles, one job: keeping the things that would otherwise fall out of your head.
Notes about you
Notes about the people you talk to
Voice notes turned into searchable text
The voice-note piece
Voice notes are where most of the forgetting happens — you listen once in a hurry and never find that sentence again. Aivi transcribes WhatsApp voice notes inside the chat (you'll see a short Transcribing status while she works), and that text can then feed a note. A line from a voice message can become something you search for by words.
How Aivi turns your WhatsApp chats into a second memory
Aivi is a separate app on top of WhatsApp — not a bot inside your chats, not a Business tool, not a Meta AI replacement. One of her jobs is to be your second memory. In her own words from the app's onboarding:
That line is her onboarding promise, printed under a screen titled «Save your second memory». The rest of this section is how the promise shows up in the app you can install today.
Where your notes live
Notes don't float around your chats. There's a dedicated screen for them inside Aivi: Settings → Account → Privacy → «Aivi's notes about me». Open it and you see what Aivi has written down — in your words, from your conversations. You can edit any line, delete it, or turn the whole feature off.
Next to it sits a connected screen, «What Aivi knows about me» — the same notes, retold as a short connected story about you. Useful when you want to see the shape of the memory, not just the list.
For memory tied to one person, open that chat's menu and tap «Notes and tasks». That's where notes about this specific contact — what they said they'd do, what you promised them — live together with any open tasks from the same thread.
How Aivi uses a note when it's time to reply
Memory you can't use is just a folder of lines. Aivi uses hers. Before she drafts a reply in a WhatsApp chat, you'll see a short status label — «Checking notes about this contact…» — while she pulls up what she already knows about the person you're writing to.
She also does a quick semantic search across your notes for the topic of the incoming message. If a friend mentioned their new address six weeks ago and now writes «can you drop it off?» — the address makes it into the draft without you digging for it.
Automatic notes and the «remember…» command
There are two ways a note gets into Aivi, and you'll use both. One is automatic; the other is one short word.
Automatic — Aivi files as you go
When you go through a WhatsApp chat with Aivi, she analyses what's there and pulls out what belongs in your notes about you and in your notes about the contact. When something lands, a small card appears in the chat: «Notes saved», «Note updated» or «Notes updated». No pop-up, no interruption — just a line confirming the memory is in.
By command — just say «remember…»
This is the one-word interface for your second memory. Dictate or type a sentence that starts with remember, and Aivi files it. Example: say «remember that Maria needs the budget by Friday» — Aivi saves the line and tags it to Maria's contact. Later ask «what did I owe Maria this week?» and the note comes back out.
That's the whole user interface for memory: one word in, one line out. The rest happens quietly in the chat you were already in.
What a WhatsApp AI note taker isn't
A WhatsApp note taker that uses AI is a narrow thing with a specific job. It's easier to describe by what it isn't.
- Not a meeting recorder. Aivi doesn't join Zoom calls, record them or produce a meeting summary with speakers labelled. If you came looking for a dedicated meeting-recorder tool in your WhatsApp routine, you came to the wrong app. Aivi transcribes WhatsApp voice notes inside the chat — that's where her audio work stops.
- Not a WhatsApp Business CRM. There's no deal pipeline, no leads board, no «export to HubSpot». A note taker over WhatsApp keeps personal and small-business memory — what you promised, what the other side promised, which address matters — not a sales funnel.
- Not Meta AI's writing help. Meta AI drafts and summarises; a note taker remembers. The two live in different corners of the same chat and don't replace each other.
- Not a plug-in inside WhatsApp. You can't install a note-taking AI inside WhatsApp itself. Every tool in this space is a separate app that works on top of your chats — Aivi included.
How to start using Aivi as your note taker
Three steps and a sentence to type. Nothing in here involves typing a password or a code into a notetaker app — Aivi uses WhatsApp's official Linked Devices feature, the same one WhatsApp Web uses, and you confirm it yourself.
- Download Aivi free from the App Store or Google Play, and sign in with Apple or Google.
- Link WhatsApp through WhatsApp's official Linked Devices feature: you start in the Aivi app and finish it yourself in WhatsApp on your phone. Aivi never asks for your WhatsApp password or SMS code.
- Open a chat you want remembered. As you go through it with Aivi, you'll see short cards: «Notes saved», «Note updated». That's your second memory filling in.
- When you want a note yourself, say «remember…» — by voice or text. Later, ask the same way: «What was Dad's new address?», «What was that book Anna mentioned?»
One Aivi account covers iPhone and Android. The same chat memory follows you between devices as long as you're signed in with the same Apple or Google account.
Privacy: can WhatsApp AI read my notes?
Short answer: your notes stay in your Aivi app. They aren't shared with Meta, they aren't a WhatsApp feature, and you can see, edit or delete every line in Settings.
WhatsApp itself is end-to-end encrypted: your messages live on your phone, not on Meta's servers. Aivi reads your chats only as a WhatsApp Linked Device, when you go through them with her — and keeps no archive of your messages either.
- Aivi never asks for your WhatsApp password or SMS code.
- Your messenger passwords never reach our servers.
- We keep no archive of your messages: your chats stay on your phone.
- Aivi never sends anything without you — it only drafts.
- Unlink anytime: in WhatsApp under Linked Devices, in Telegram under Devices.
- See what Aivi knows about you in Settings: edit, delete or turn it off.
To answer, Aivi only uses the parts of a message it needs — never your contact list, phone or email.
If you ever want everything gone: you can delete your account in the app settings. Your data in AIVI goes with it — notes, tasks and your conversation with the assistant.
Frequently asked questions
Does WhatsApp have an AI notetaker?
Not of its own. WhatsApp's built-in AI, Meta AI, can draft a reply and give you a short summary of unread messages — both rolled out in 2025 — but it doesn't keep notes about the people you talk to or things you'd like to remember. For that you install a separate app like Aivi that works on top of WhatsApp as a note taker.
Can Aivi save WhatsApp voice notes as text?
Yes. Aivi transcribes WhatsApp voice notes inside the chat — you'll see a Transcribing status while she works. Once the voice note is text, a line of it can turn into a note, either automatically or when you say «remember…» about that line.
Does Aivi share my notes with Meta?
No. Your notes live in your Aivi app, not inside WhatsApp — Meta doesn't see them. To answer, Aivi only uses the parts of a message it needs — never your contact list, phone or email. You can see what Aivi knows about you in Settings, and edit, delete or turn it off.
How much does Aivi cost?
Aivi is free to download, and you can try it right away. Ongoing use of the assistant needs a subscription: the standard plan is $9.99 a month in the US, prices vary by country, and you always see the price in the app before you pay.
Can I use Aivi on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Aivi is available on both — one Apple ID or Google account signs you in on either device, and your notes come with you.
How do I delete a note?
Open Settings → Account → Privacy → «Aivi's notes about me», find the line and edit or delete it. You can also turn the whole notes feature off there. And if you want to clear everything: you can delete your account in the app settings — your data in AIVI goes with it, notes, tasks and your conversation with the assistant.
Does Aivi work on Telegram too?
Yes. Telegram links through its official sign-in — the code comes from Telegram itself. Aivi then works as a note taker across both your WhatsApp and your Telegram chats, with one list of notes.
Does Aivi reply to people for me automatically?
No. Aivi never sends anything without you — it only drafts. The draft lands in the input field; you edit it or tap Send yourself.
Aivi is an independent app by ZPOOL FZCO and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp, Meta or Telegram. WhatsApp and Telegram are trademarks of their respective owners. Product details as of October 27, 2026.
