ChatGPT in Telegram: What's Real, What's Fake, and What to Use (2026)
Search chatgpt telegram and the top results pull every way — bots, Reddit builds, roundups, no-code tutorials — none from OpenAI. As of October 2026, OpenAI has not released ChatGPT as a product in Telegram. In WhatsApp, by contrast, OpenAI runs ChatGPT officially through 1-800-CHATGPT since December 2024. How ChatGPT actually works inside WhatsApp. Not a ChatGPT bot in Telegram. Aivi is a separate app for iPhone and Android — not a bot, not affiliated with OpenAI or Telegram. It works on top of your Telegram and WhatsApp chats, both messengers in one list. You stay the sender.

Is ChatGPT in Telegram the same as ChatGPT on web or WhatsApp?
- No. OpenAI has not released ChatGPT as a product in Telegram, as of October 2026.
- Every bot in Telegram called 'ChatGPT' or 'GPT-4' is third-party — built on OpenAI's API or a different model by someone who isn't OpenAI.
- In WhatsApp, OpenAI runs ChatGPT officially through 1-800-CHATGPT (since December 2024). Telegram has no equivalent.
- Telegram's own built-in AI is a different thing — it runs on Telegram's Cocoon network, not on ChatGPT and not on Google Gemini.
- For AI across your Telegram chats on your phone, Aivi is a separate app that works on top of them — not a bot inside Telegram.
Does OpenAI have an official ChatGPT in Telegram?
No. OpenAI has not released ChatGPT as a product in Telegram, as of October 2026.
ChatGPT's official platforms are the web (chatgpt.com), iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and the API. OpenAI also runs ChatGPT on WhatsApp and by phone through 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478), launched in December 2024. Telegram is not on that list.
Every bot called 'ChatGPT' or 'GPT-4' in Telegram is built by a third-party developer on top of OpenAI's API — or a different model entirely. Legally fine; who built them, what they log, and whether they stay online tomorrow — up to each developer, not OpenAI.
If you came to this page looking for the ChatGPT Telegram link that OpenAI promotes — there isn't one. The three paths that do work are below.
The three legitimate options people actually use
Three real ways to get an AI that behaves like ChatGPT inside Telegram today. All three go around OpenAI's API, because that's the only door open — none of them is a Telegram product OpenAI shipped.
Third-party bots that call OpenAI's API
The most common path. A developer registers a bot with @BotFather, points it at the OpenAI API, and publishes it in Telegram. You open the chat, hit /start, and you're typing to a model that answers in text. Some are free with limits; paid tiers run on subscriptions or Telegram Stars.
Since May 2026 these bots have a lighter form too — Guest AI Bots. You @mention an AI bot in any personal or group chat, even if it isn't a member. The bot sees only the message that tagged it and the replies to it, nothing else in the thread.
Bots called 'ChatGPT' in Telegram are third-party. They route your messages to OpenAI's API (or a different model) and show you the answer. Which bots are worth your time, and how to tell a legit developer from the rest — our Telegram AI bot guide sorts the category out.
DIY: your own bot via Bot API + OpenAI API
If you build your own: Telegram's Bot API and @BotFather are free; you pay OpenAI's API fees and whatever hosting you choose. OpenAI's community forum documents the pattern — connect a GPT to a Telegram bot. A weekend project, not a tool for people who want Monday to feel lighter.
When it breaks on a public holiday, nobody but you can fix it. Fine if you enjoy wiring things together; expensive in time if you don't.
Automation hubs
No-code glue layers that bridge Telegram's Bot API with OpenAI's API through a dashboard — the pattern is the same as DIY, you just didn't write the glue. The bill splits between the platform, the model usage and whatever messages you push through.
Telegram's own AI (not ChatGPT, not Gemini)
Telegram ships AI inside the app itself, on its own Cocoon network — encrypted inference, Telegram's models, Telegram's rules. The first wave arrived on 3 January 2026: AI summaries for long channel posts and Instant View pages (not private chats).
The second wave arrived on 7 May 2026 — the 'AI Bot Revolution' update: Guest AI Bots (@mention a bot in any chat), Chat Automation (connect a bot to answer on your behalf), Custom AI Styles in the AI Text Editor, bot-to-bot chats and streamed replies.
Telegram's own AI is not ChatGPT and not Google Gemini. It runs on Cocoon with the models Telegram chose. Great for reading long channel posts and polishing long drafts; not an assistant for the chats you have with friends, family and clients.
Chat Automation lets you connect a bot to answer on your behalf — it's a Telegram feature, not an AI feature. The bot can be anything, including an AI one. The full map of what AI inside Telegram does and doesn't cover: Telegram AI — the complete guide for 2026.
Safety: how to tell real from fake
A few checks that save a lot of grief. None of them require a security background — just a slower thumb before you tap.
- No bot in Telegram is run by OpenAI. If a bot's description claims an 'official' link to OpenAI, that claim is not true.
- No bot should ever ask you for a login code, a password, or a copy of an ID. OpenAI's API keys belong to the developer who built the bot — you do not need to type one.
- The 'Verified' badge in Telegram means Telegram checked the account's public identity. It does not mean the bot is from OpenAI.
- 'ChatGPT Premium via Telegram' is not an OpenAI feature. OpenAI sells ChatGPT Plus on chatgpt.com, iOS and Android. Telegram's own paid tier is Telegram Premium, unrelated to ChatGPT.
- If a Chat Automation bot asks for broad chat access and you don't know who built it, don't grant it. Telegram lets you exclude contacts or limit it to new chats only.
The real login prompt for Telegram only appears in the Telegram app itself. Treat anything else — a bot, a 'support' DM, a fancy landing page — as unsolicited until proven otherwise.
The alternative: Aivi — an AI assistant that works alongside your Telegram (not a bot inside it)
Aivi isn't a ChatGPT bot and doesn't live inside Telegram. It's a separate app for iPhone and Android that works on top of your Telegram and WhatsApp chats — both messengers in one list, with one assistant on top.
Different job from everything above. Aivi doesn't reply to anyone. It helps you across your chats: translates both sides, drafts a reply in your tone when you ask, catches plans and deadlines in a thread, and reminds you — on your side, not on theirs.
Across languages, both sides
Incoming messages in your language. You write in yours; Aivi sends it in theirs. The language is set per chat. Voice notes are transcribed and shown in your language — tap for the original text.
Drafts in your tone
Ask Aivi to draft a reply. Edit it, cut what feels off, send it yourself. Aivi never sends anything without you.
Plans become reminders
A meeting agreed in a group chat, a deadline promised in a client thread — Aivi offers to add it to your calendar or tasks with a reminder. One tap. Google Calendar if you want.
Who's who, and who's waiting
Short notes about the people you talk with, and a nudge about who's still waiting on your reply. Every morning, Aivi lays out your meetings and tasks for the day.
Groups too, quietly
Aivi understands who said what in a group chat, including you. The group never sees Aivi — it isn't a member and never posts into your chats.
Five ways to meet an AI around Telegram, side by side. Pick the column that matches your week — who's doing the talking to the person on the other side?

Price
Costs vary wildly by route. The 'free' bots usually aren't free past the first few messages, and the 'cheap' DIY path has a hosting bill tucked underneath.
- Third-party bots in Telegram — free with message limits, then subscriptions or Telegram Stars. Each developer sets their own tier.
- DIY — Bot API is free; you pay OpenAI's API fees per request, plus hosting for the bot. Costs scale with how chatty you are.
- OpenAI direct (chatgpt.com) — ChatGPT has a free tier; ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month on chatgpt.com, iOS and Android. OpenAI does not sell this through Telegram.
- Aivi — free to download, and you can try it right away. The standard plan is $9.99 a month in the US; prices vary by country, and you always see the price in the app before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is ChatGPT official in Telegram?
No. OpenAI's official ChatGPT platforms are the web (chatgpt.com), iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, the API, and WhatsApp via 1-800-CHATGPT. Telegram is not on that list — as of October 2026, OpenAI has not released ChatGPT as a product in Telegram.
Are 'ChatGPT' bots in Telegram safe?
Every one is third-party. Some are legitimate developers calling OpenAI's API; some are not. No bot should ever ask for a password, a login code or a copy of your ID. The 'Verified' badge means Telegram checked the account's public identity — it does not mean the bot is from OpenAI.
Is there a free unlimited ChatGPT bot in Telegram?
No. Every third-party bot runs on OpenAI's API, which costs the developer money, so they all cap free messages. Serious use means a subscription or Telegram Stars. If someone promises 'unlimited free ChatGPT in Telegram', read the small print.
Is a 'ChatGPT Premium' link in Telegram real?
No. OpenAI does not sell or gift ChatGPT Plus through Telegram. Telegram Premium is a separate paid tier of Telegram itself, unrelated to ChatGPT; Telegram's own gifting feature gifts Telegram Premium, not ChatGPT. Any message or ad promising 'ChatGPT Premium via Telegram' is not from OpenAI.
Does Telegram have its own AI?
Yes — AI summaries for long channel posts and Instant View pages (January 2026), plus Guest AI Bots, Chat Automation and Custom AI Styles (May 2026). It runs on Telegram's own Cocoon network — not ChatGPT, not Google Gemini. The full map: Telegram AI — the complete guide for 2026.
How much does Aivi cost?
Aivi is free to download, and you can try it right away. Ongoing use of the assistant needs a subscription: the standard plan is $9.99 a month in the US, prices vary by country, and you always see the price in the app before you pay.
Is Aivi a ChatGPT bot in Telegram?
No. Aivi is a separate app for iPhone and Android — not a Telegram bot, and not affiliated with OpenAI or Telegram. It works on top of your Telegram and WhatsApp chats on your phone, and Aivi never sends anything without you. To unlink: Telegram → Settings → Devices → end the Aivi session.
Aivi is an independent app by ZPOOL FZCO and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp, Meta or Telegram. WhatsApp and Telegram are trademarks of their respective owners. Product details as of October 26, 2026.
